My husband is in bootcamp right now and I'm wondering how he can rank up in the Marines?

Literally by doing his job, doing well physically, and putting in his time. Oh yeah, and not messing up. That's a pretty solid way to rank up

A lot of them pick up their first rank as they graduate bootcamp/ITB, I think. A big issue right now is making sure he keeps his weight in check and that his PFT/CFT scores are good. Coming out of bootcamp that shouldn't be a problem at all. But a lot of people get comfy once they hit the fleet.

Early on, mostly it is timing. Unless he fails PFT and doesn't get in major trouble, he will promote on time. But there's really no way to speed it up, if that's what you are asking.

Doing MCIs, getting a good CFT & PFT, having a good rifle score, doing your job well, and conducting yourself appropriately. From PVT to LCPL it mostly time and grade.
After he hits SGT (E5), he'll have a fit rep and the board will determine if he's promotable.
