It's my boyfriend's first enlistment, he's been in for almost 4 years I believe and he was active for one year.

depending on branch - almost impossible to go from reserves to AD in all but the Army.

It's quite difficult lately. Has he talked to a recruiter about it?

My friend's husband has been trying to go from USMC reserves to active duty for about 4-5 years. Still no luck.

I would think especially since they are downsizing now. They are cutting down the troops that are active duty. I doubt they will be adding any laterally when they are paying people to leave.

There's about zero chance of that happening in the Corps right now, unless he's in a highly highhhhly wanted job.
