    DH = Medical Board

    Advertisements
    I'm kinda freaking out. DH just told me that they are going to put him on the medical board which means, medically retired. Which is great as a whole but at the same time, I'm terrified of him in the civilian world. The Marine Corps is all he knows and with his PTSD it is really hard for him to deal with "normal" situations.

    I'm really scared, nervous ...unsure of how to feel. ugh I can tell he's not too happy about it either; he JUST reenlisted a couple months ago.

    He'd be retired. (at least that's how he says it) He's been in for almost 10 years.

    at least with retirement you will be able to keep tricare and base privledges, unfortunately the loss of pay will be hard.

    And the lengtth of time to get VA benefits is long from 12-24 months.

    have him get his medical records asap to copy, he will need them for the VA rating -

    and I am sorry this is happening.

    thank you for the advice. I'll definitely talk to him. I'm just a nervous wreck. I dont know what he's going to do once he's out and I'm afraid that the military is just going to dump him on the civilian world and pretend he doesnt have PTSD anymore and do nothing to help him.

    I can't even imagine and i'm so sorry this is happening. The good thing is a guaranteed income (after the wait) and benefits (unless the gov changes that). I can imagine the civi job hunt and the future are very frightening with PTSD. I wish I had some good advice, but HUGS!!
