    Air Force enlisted folks, questions

    Advertisements
Is anyone (or their SO) here an Operations Intelligence Specialist or a Network Intelligence Analyst Specialist? Do you/they deploy? What's the deployment schedule? Is it in the AEF "buckets"? How does that work? Can those jobs generally homestead in one location?

Also, is the Air Force taking new personnel with dependents (spouse and/or children)?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read and answer!

The ones that are tethered to dh's SQ deploy with the SQ, not via AEF rotations. I don't know about other bases or SQ, but when they are attached to the SQ, our spouses group embraces them like one of our own.

Best bet is to contact a AF recruiter about the prior service question, I've heard it's very hard to get into the AF being prior service, but it could be dependent on the AFSC.

They also do Air Advisor deployments. Those range from 6 months to a year.

I was a reservist (via AFROTC) for 2 years, so I might qualify as "prior service", but I'm not sure. I know that when I called today to make an appointment at the local MTF, they asked me AGAIN if I was active duty myself since my information is still in the system as such lol. And I know a number of AFROTC dropouts who have enlisted and gone that route instead, so I know that it can be done. Just Live Chat-ted with a recruiter on the Air Force's website and they said that the two dependents are not a problem, so that's a relief. Thank you for responding!

Okay, thank you. Do you know if those are to bases in theater or if they're in adjacent countries? Just asking for purposes of communication home. Thank you for the help!

DH is a 1N2(Signals Intelligence), but was doing work in the 1N4 (Network Intelligence Analyst Specialist) capacity when he was working joint-base in HI. He deployed for 6 months boots on the ground. I don't know what the deployment schedule was like, it'd depend on the unit I think. Length of deployment also varies. DH hasn't deployed since 2008, but my friend's husband deployed in 2009 and there was talk this summer that he could be going again soon; we haven't heard any more about it though. DH did not deploy with a group, he worked joint-base.

The list of available bases seems pretty slim for Intel. Hawaii, Germany, Ft. Meade, San Angelo, Buckley , Peterson and Cannon that I know of off hand. I'm not saying that there isn't more, just none that I can think of at the moment.

As for AF accepting prior service, it's hard to know without contacting the recruiter. I've heard that it can be difficult.

In general the AF is easy to homestead if you want to. I would talk to a recruiter though. Good luck with everything.

EDIT: Just saw the PTS thread so deleted the question. I hope it all works out and he gets picked up.

Air Advisors deploy to a lot of places. If you're asking specifically about Afghanistan, yes they do.

I mentioned this in your other thread - the question you want to ask the recruiter is Can I enlist if my husband is in the Navy and we have a child? I believe you would have to wait until your husband is out of the Navy to enlist in the AF since you have a child.

They may let her if he has an EAS date because of PTS though... I think I've heard of this happening before since basic dates can be about a year long wait.
