So my husband and I are toying with the idea of Navy Reserves. He is about to get out of active duty here in April. Anybody have experience with Navy Reserves? I know their are signing bonuses, any luck with those? He is an AT, so what are the chances of him getting deployed? How long are deployments if not volunteered?
Any advice/information would be great! |

He can deploy as soon as they want him too and they can till the day of his end of contract. Its 6 years (or whatever is the contract) of Ready Reserve where he drills, goes to trainings, etc. The whole 1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year (sort of) deal. Then the last two years (or whatever is the contract) are IRR where he does not drill, does not have to do the 1:2 deal. DH AFIL is a seabee and out of the last four years has been deployed for 3. All volunteer. But I do believe there is a certain amount of time they have to be home between non-volunteer deployments, I'm not sure though what that amount is. |

If the Navy is anything like the Army right now, reserves have an equal chance of deploying as AD. And I'm pretty sure they can deploy him within the first two years.
