Khaki Ball 2009 with Pics
The Ball was great. We had a lot of fun. The first hour we were in the hallway right outside the room where all the tables, food, dj, etc. were. The bars, appetizers, and photographer were out there. It was Open Bar for the first 3 hours and then the next 3 hours we had to pay. We stayed til the end and then went out afterwards. We didn't win any of the prizes. There was 1 couple at our table that won the final prize of the night. The food was great. There was plenty for me to eat. We didn't dance much cause John kept making rounds to everyone. We did do the Cupid Shuffle. After doing it there and at the karaoke bar afterwards I've got that thing down. lol I drank way more than I planned but I didn't get drunk or have a hangover. John, on the other hand, was hurting all day yesterday. I am sooo happy we had a hotel room there. It made everything much easier. We dropped the kids off early and got ready in our room. Before the Ball was even over some of us made plans to go to a karaoke bar near the hotel. We got a cab there and back. However, we did almost get into a slight accident when 2 other guys that were at the bar almost backed right into him. Thankfully, the cab driver saw it and was able to reverse quick enough. This bar has something none of us had ever seen before; instead of a machine with one of those claw arms to grab stuffed animals, it had one that grabbed live lobster. If you caught one they cooked it right there for you.
So, it was great time and we are looking forward to next year's already. Here are a few pics. ![]() This is the professional pic from that night. I look really scared it in for some reason. I must have been really nervous. This was at the very beginning of the night. ![]() This was taken by one of John's friends at the karaoke bar. ![]() All of the new chiefs were given these. It has the CPO Creed, the fouled anchor, the CPO Club coin/medal, and a plaque that states John's rate, rank, name, the date he got pinned, and his command. I blocked out his name and command on here. They were also giben a bag with all sorts of decals, patches, keychains, etc. and I was given a recognition award.

Thank you ladies.
We weren't presented with the recogintion. There were tables set up along all the back walls in the room they held the Ball. On the tables they had everyone's things. We just picked them up before we left. They did have us (the new chiefs and the SO's) stand a few times. They also had all the master chiefs stand at one point and all the sponsors to the new chiefs. I'm not sure who it was but there was a guy (I'm not sure on his exact rank) that was announcing some things. Well, people in the audience would yell things up to him to mess with him and get him going. It was fun. Ya, when I walked up to the background my first thought was 'omg I fit right in'. lol Shaky, I thought of you. There was a lady that brought her 5 week old. She carried him around and sat out by the restrooms a lot. On a side note: I had the strongest rum and cokes, ever, there. They might as well have just gave me the bottle and spared the coke and ice. lol

Awww At our Khaki Ball there was this lady with a newborn who looked like barely a week old! So tiny and cute and made me miss my baby
It was our first time leaving the baby at home (my mom flew in and watched him ) but it was also our first "date" since we had the baby so that was nice.
