    Thinking about going Guard.

DH is thinking about going Guard. He hates his job, he hates where we live. He has high blood pressure and is on medication but he also has high anxiety (undiagnosed, he's never seen anyone for it.) When his shift changes every two months, his anxiety spikes. All he ever says is, "I just want a normal life, I don't want to do this anymore. I want to see my family more." He smokes all of the time because he says it reduces his anxiety. I just want him to be happy in what he does and he's not.

Basically, I'm just asking how hard is it to go Guard from Active Duty. Any advice would be appreciated!

are you contract complete? it is very difficult to switch if you are not contract complete.

They will most likely make him finish his enlistment before he could go Guard.

    Active to Guard

My DH is actually trying to do the opposite. It is possible to come from the active to the Guard in the middle of your contract but the contract you sign with the Guard has to be for twice as long as you have left on the contract with the Active Duty. DH says it's called Palace Chase. (Probably wrong spelling, lol!)

I haven't really heard of that being possible, but that doesn't mean it isn't. I hope he can, if his blood pressure and anxiety are so bad!
