Has anyones significant other ever terminate shore duty to go back to sea duty?
Did they get to pick where they wanted to go or did the detailer pick for them? Please help anyone?

I terminated early and I got to choose. If you do terminate then you will be basically in the needs of the navy and but the detailer will give you options.

DH did that a long time ago(before I met him), I don't know the details of it, I know he ended up doing back to back deployments though, but that was one of the reasons he wanted to do it.

It will honestly depend on the detailer. When my DH tried, he was told he would have the choice between a few hot fill billets, so, we decided we didn't want a hot fill again (a short term move is no fun!) and waited out the extra 4 months to be in our window. We got where we wanted to go, but not necessarily the ship he wanted

He's terminating a few months early, but we didn't worry about whether or not he got to choose, as he's in his order window...

Info
If you are terminating only a couple months early then it's not really terminating shore duty. The Detailer has the authority to rotate you 3 months early to your PRD or 4 months after your PRD.
