Khaki Ball - Military Career Progression

Is there food served? Is it a munchie type deal or is it an actual dinner? If it is a dinner am I able to request a vegetarian dinner?

A lot of them are buffet style with "real" (not just finger/snack) foods. There was a big variety of things there for ours, and you should be able to just pick around the stuff that you won't eat.

Usually there is some sort of "cocktail" hr. before the ball technically starts (ours always has passed finger foods and a fruit/cheese bar)... then a buffet dinner (depending on how much they spent, it could be served to you, or could be buffet style)...

There are usually sides but the majority of the dinners we've been served while at Khaki ball aren't open for choice (you don't RSVP with dinner choice like at a wedding reception) There are things like rice, and other sides and usually a salad or two and a soup... it's about the same as every command Christmas party we've been to food wise.

If we're being served can I ask that they just not put the meat on my plate and I'll just take the sides that don't contain meat?

There's usually one or two people responsible for lining everything up for Khaki ball. If your DH doesn't know who planned it, one of the people who participated in the selectee season should know who he should contact.
