Why are they required to know how to sail a darn boat?!? very...

here...

I'm seriously wondering what purpose it serves to teach one how to sail.

I am assuming a larger sailboat?? It's probably some lesson in teamwork.

I believe that is why. Besides they are sailors, they should know how to sail!

They also have to learn all kinds of silly songs and when asked how long they have been in the Navy they have to respond with "All me blooming life, my mother was a..." I can't remember it, LOL!

when do they learn to sail? i don't think my husband learned while at ocs.

My husband is learning with his ROTC unit. He does not go to OCS with the program he's in.

The CPO selectees in Jax had to do it as well and I think it had to do with teamwork lessons as well as the tradition. My husband loved it...LOL.....
