    Question Question

Does anyone know what the reenlistment window is?

DH has heard you can reenlist 2 yrs out if you are deployed but now he's hearing you can do that while in the states too. It's kind of his last resort if branch won't help him get orders out of here

Hes wondering what kind of window he needs to be in to reenlist.

I know DH's first one was a year out. I have no clue about 2 though.

It depends on rate and other things. My husband reenlisted 24 months out because he's in an undermanned rate. Others can't reenlist that early. He'll have to ask his command.

Reenlisting wouldn't guarantee him a transfer though, would it?

I have no idea what all it depends on, but DH re-enlisted two years early just this February... he did it to get a bonus before he got E-7 and the bonus went down...

Closer you do it to the date he "gets out" normally the better the bonus. My husband did it while he was in Iraq but yes you can do it in the states. Reenlist will not normally get him a transfer unless he reenlists for something else.

He needs to do some research and talk to people find out what his options are.

My husband was deployed a ton in Fort Bragg so he reenlisted to come down to Fort Benning to get some more schools under his belt and then we are headed back up.
