the way his person described it to him it is trading places with someone on a diff ship who also wants to cross deck. but it has to be the same job and same rank.

Ahhh the Duty Swap. I have seen it happen but it has to be same area, same job basically. They can waive rank in some cases.

dh said that if he has been on the ship for two years he can just request to leave the ship and go to another one, and he wont have to "switch" with another guy. But no I dont know anyone that has done it.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT but they didnt tell him that. he has been on the ship 3yrs..

He was told to cross deck it would have to be 'east coast, someone in same rank and rate'

gosh, it would be so sweet if he could just request a new ship.

All this depends on the commands manning and whether or not the powers to be buy off on it.

If he has been there for 3 years then he should be close to finishing up his Sea Flow. If he is transfered to a new command then he has to completely start over fresh and re qual on certain things he may be complete on.

You have to make sure you look over all the options before pulling the trigger.
