    Officer retirement/benefits?

    Advertisements
Are officer retirement benefits the same as enlisted?

What are other benefits of being an officer?

    Cons?

DH is Air Force, for what it's worth.

They still have to be in 20 years before they can retire with benefits though, right?

But his enlisted time should count...I know it does for DF with the Navy.

His Enlisted time does count. BUT...he also has to fulfill his Officer contract or he will NOT retire an Officer, he will retire what ever Enlisted rank he was prior to his commission.

Dh was enlisted for 9 years... he could retire at 20 years combined E/O time, but wants to do 20 years commissioned service. Dh is a rated officer (Navigator) and had to sign a six year commitment to the AF... but once that is done and he has a total of 20 years in, he can retire.

DH would be required to do four more years as an O, but it would be 13 years by that point, so it's kind of rediculous not to do 6.

Your thinking is good that it's only 6 more years to get the retirement. It's definately worth the butt ton of extra money Officers get for retirement.
