So right now there are issues... that's all I'll say as this is not anyone else's business, but how does the whole filing a grievance and taking it up the chain work? I'm clueless, but I would like some information!!!

    From my DH--
If your SO is filing a grievance they will do so with the CMEO. The Command Managed Equal Opportunity Advisor will then review the case and see if it needs to be sent up the Chain of Command. The Chain of Command will then review the claim through an investigation and make their decision.

The main thing to remember is to ensure that it is a valid claim and that it is worthy enough of filing a grievance.

    Hope this helps.

He'd have to speak to the CMEO The CMEO will not/cannot stop him from filing, but if it's something they feel isn't worth going that route they will most likely advise him which route is the best way to go.

There should be no backlash from the command (but many times there is), if there is, he contacts the CMEO again, and the command can get into trouble.

Absolutely and as a rule Grievances should be handled at the lowest level possible and if the person filing the grievance isn't satisfied with the results of the lowest level possible then it will go from an informal resolution to a formal resolution.

Hope your SO get's things fixed.
