I don't know why I am thinking about this but before we did our PCS in May, dh had to sign on the dotted line. His enlistment was up in November '08.

    Is that common?

dh has only been in a year and has two years left on his contract....he is choosing to re up for another 5 in October already. I am not sure how common it is, or if it varies depending on branch, deployment, length of contract or what. He is army and deployed.

sometimes you have to reenlist or extend for orders.

I also know my husband reenlisted early last time to lock in a bonus.
