my husband is a CS. I dont know a whole lot about AO's although i know someone who's SO is an AO on the USS Lincoln. Hubby used to be stationed on the Lincoln and there were lots of AO's i know her SO worked a lot of long hours but then again so to most rates in the military.

this is the little clip on AO:
    AO - Aviation Ordnanceman
Navy planes carry guns, bombs, torpedoes, rockets and missiles to
attack the enemy on the sea, under the sea, in the air and on land.
AOs maintain, repair, install, operate and handle aviation ordnance
equipment. Their duties also include the handling, stowing, issuing
and loading of munitions and small arms.
I found that on this ratings website.

If you have specific questions I can try to get you in touch with the girl i know.

IYAOYAS... Learn that acronym. It means "If you ain't ordnance, you ain't shit!
I worked with ordies when I was in the Navy years ago, I was an AE so we were all in the same division. Ordis basically load bombs on planes, not much more to it. They wear red jerseys on the boat, too.
