    Re-enlistment Timeframes

    Advertisements
I'm confused about how long a re-enlistment is. DB is finishing out his first 4 years in the Marines and strongly considering re-enlistment but I don't understand how long that would mean he'd be in the Marines. Can he choose a certain amount of years and what's most common? If you can, might want to answer this question for all branches, in case someone else has the same question. Thanks!

depends on how long he chooses to re-enlist for as long as 6 ( i believe is the max) as short as 2. most choose 2-4 unless the SRB is good then you can get more by choosing a longer time frame.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

Oh phew! Thank you! You see...having kids depends on how long he's in the Marines...he doesn't want any until he's out...so I'm like uh....how long does this mean we're waiting for kids....? Haha. But another 2-4 years would be perfect cause I don't want kids too soon either! Thanks for answering!

usually ranges between 4-8. Sometimes 2 years.
    Before I knew your name,
Before I saw your chin and your nose,
Before I counted your fingers and toes,
I asked heaven for someone as wonderful as you,
And every prayer and wish came true.
    I dreamed of you...

My husband just re-enlisted for 4 years, but his initial contract was for 6.

    you've gotten good answers.

DH has reenlisted once in his entire time in the Navy (14 years). Crazy huh? He's extended every other time beyond that due to the overseas bonuses we'd get.

His current reenlistment is 6 years........we're going to have to reenlist for another set of orders soon though.
