after basic
When your SO came back from basic for the 1st time..what did you think about him. Were you kinda scared at first because you didn't recognize him? I have a feeling i'm not going to jump into his arms like i thought i was going to because i won't recognize him! I got a picture yesterday and he lost a lot of weight and he said he lost another 20 pounds since that picture...i'm scared i won't know him anymore.

When DH (then DB) came back from basic I was
 He had thinned down and toned up majorly. He was so together and in shape. Man thinking back on it, I wish DH would go back to basic  I wouldn't worry too much. You're man may has lost some weight but more than anything he has probably toned up and much more muscular. |

Haha I guess I'm the only one whose DH GAINED weight while at basic! (He gained all muscle mass though). He really didn't look too different, and the only attitude changes came with his increased respect for others, for me, and not taking me for granted --- in other words, all great changes! He was still the same old DH though underneath it all.

DB lost 60 lbs at Parris Island && I cried on family day (the first day i'd seen him in 4 months!) bc I didnt recognise him in the plt when they were lining up like 15 ft in front of me to march onto the parade deck. I had an anxiety complex when he was home after that bc I convinced myself that he was all gorgeous now & I'd put on 10 lbs since he'd been gone so he would leave me... obviously the anxiety was needless. He was emotionally different when he got back, like the first couple days were a big adjustment for both of us... within a few days, he came back a lil more like the goofball he was before he left but there was a definite difference in him, even still... not bad just different. Everything was always better when I was in his arms tho, he just had to get used to civi life again.

well, my dh (then df) didn't change that much...just toned up and looked yummy! but i think i was more nervous to see him at graduation than i was at our wedding!! it's quite an experience. the first thing i did was hug him tight and say "don't ever do that to me again" (oh boy, i should have known better...we're talking about the navy!)

As soon as I spotted my DB I had the freak out attack too. He looked tiny in his ACU's and I didnt know what to think. He was also holding a gun because he got chosen to perform D&C. They all had to stand still but as soon as we made eye contact we were all smiles and shyness. Then we got to see them in their Class A's and he has never looked better. I thought I would hate him with a bald head but he looks way hotter *sigh*. I also got a whole complex thing because I had been trying to lose weight but didn't lose very much and here he was all toned and slender. Then he told me I was beautiful and it was like we hadn't been separated at all. I guess what I am trying to say whether or not you recognize him to begin with, if you are in love with everything about him then the way he looks won't matter (even if he is 10x hotter).

I just give up already...

 My DH got sooo damn skinny lol. Everything went back to normal for me though. I picked him up from the airport and ran right into his arms.  For me I wasnt scared or anything I just missed him a whole lot.

My DH then my DF did look really different and since you can't hug them or kiss them for long it was really akward. And he was very straight faced and didn't seem really excited when I walked up. DH was like that for most of the time, but I guess it's because he just got out of a really disciplined enviroment. But when I went to see him in tech school...he welcomed me with open arms and was really happy. So...?
