What to say in my letter to my DB?

I'm writing him a letter for halloween and I was saying happy halloween to him and I'm sure he's having one hell of a time. I'm trying to be funny, but is that bad? I dunno what to say?

When I started e-mailing DB when he first deployed (before he could check e-mails), I told him that I felt bad only ever writing about myself and my day and what I was thinking. He told me it's exactly what he wants to hear, though...and that it makes home feel closer for him. I just write to DB what I've been thinking about, or something that happened that I knew he'd get. Your DB will love what you send him no matter what's in it.

I have a few close friends here at home that have been in the military (one of my best friends worked with SEALS in the Navy, and another was in Iraq a few years ago). They keep me sane sometimes. I started freaking out one night when we were all hanging out, saying that I felt bad about just telling DB about my day. They both told me that is the stuff that he wants/needs to hear so that he knows that somebody cares about him. DB told me the same thing. He said it helps him know that he's got someone to come home to and that life can be more than sitting in a desert fighting bad guys and he doesn't really care what I say, just as long as he gets letters/emails from me to know that I am thinking about him.

I write to DF everyday and its all about ME! lol Well and to keep his sanity, I include a lot of football scores. Like Saturday his letters is nothing but football scores and a few highlights of the games that I can watch. I try to write about the things DF likes, like his favorite show Flash Forward. I don't like it, but I watch it just to update him on it. He just likes knowing that I'm writing to him, even if its only one line.

I always talk about my day, or tell him about something funny our son has done. I've even wrote a few naughty letters . But for Halloween I got him a cute card that has two mummys on the outside with hearts around them, and on the inside it says "I'm glad we wound up together" , I know. And I wrote ALL over the inside of the card + a letter too I feel bad though because I haven't wrote all week...it's been sooooo busy because of church/halloween...and plus he said they would be in the field, so they wouldn't be able to get mail anyways. I feel bad.

But I would get him a card or something, and just tell him about your day. Lol. Sorry for the super long post.

i agree with what the other ladies are saying. think of it like this:

you just got in from a long day at work, and your man hasn't talked to you all day. You flop down and he says "How was your day?"

write like you were talking to him. that really helped me make it through this process.

and if you don't want to talk about yourself all the time, then ask him questions. write letters where the only thing you say is how much you love him and why you love him. write song lyrics. write a poem. draw a picture. get creative!

i even wrote him a little fairytale that was our "love story"...once upon a time...

I just put a bunch of halloween stickers on the front of an index card and wrote happy halloween stuff on the back of it, and then wrote a full letter as well. I just write mostly about my day and stuff that's been going on. also football scores. lol. he'll just be glad to get the mail
