Questions about bootcamp!

My DB is leaving and this will our first time apart and the adventure is definatly a first too. I have so many stupid questions about day to day stuff and if there's someone who's a little experienced out there that could kindly fill in the blanks it would be greatly appreciated. (also he's Air Force; idk if that matters)

- How often can I send him letters? How many letters? (I imagine writing to him is one of the few ways I'll be able to keep myself together)
- How often will he call?
- How often will he write?
- How often will he recieve mail?
- How does graduation weekend work?
- How physical is his schedule?

well I dont know about AF but what I can tell you that basically applies to all branches in my experience is this: it differs from guy, drill instructor, platoon, base, everything basically.

More AF girls can probably try to answer some of your other questions though...Good luck!

- How often can I send him letters? How many letters? (I imagine writing to him is one of the few ways I'll be able to keep myself together) You can write often, and frequently, I only used to mail em once or twice a week in a HUGE maila envelope (they smoke em in the Army so they can get their mail)
- How often will he call? my DH called 3 times in 8 weeks, could be different for you
- How often will he write? when they get the chance, don't expect much.
- How often will he recieve mail? when they get the chance
- How does graduation weekend work? They will send your or his next of kin information about it
- How physical is his schedule? Basic is hell on wheels.

If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask. You can ask his recruiter sometimes for information. Get close to his family BEFORE he goes. Get a support system in place for yourself. Stay Busy.

- How often will he call? Usually, I would get a call from him once a week. I think there might have been one time where he didn't call that week.
- How often will he write? DH only wrote me like 3 times because he was soo busy or soo tired while at BCT. I didn't mind though because I got the phone calls.
- How often will he recieve mail? I'm not too sure about this. I'd imagine as soon as it gets there? I really don't know.
- How does graduation weekend work? Family day was first for me. We got to spend time with him on post, eat dinner with everyone he was graduating with, etc. The next day was Graduation Day. After that we picked him up and took him out to eat and all. He didn't have to re-turn until the next day or the day after. I don't really remember too well.
- How physical is his schedule? Not sure what you mean by this. If you clarify, maybe I can help you out. If you're asking if he'll be doing a lot... then yes, he will.

*My answers were for Army BCT. Not too sure about AF.

Does anyone have any advice on books for me to read and learn about being a military spouse/coping with seperation and any suggestions on books/websites with inspirational quotes/stories that I can send him while he's away?

He won't have much time to read books/magazines/stories.. he will like hearing from you- the rest he won't care for. He will just be too tired.

Thank you so much! I've read a lot about sending letters and embarassing him in bootcamp and this is my worst fear so I guess my biggest question is if he gets a letter from me everyday he's not going to get picked on right? Like are all the girlfriends writing letters and sending them everyday?

I sent letters everyday to DH when I was his girlfriend and he never said anything about getting picked on. If anything it probably makes the other guys jealous!

I meant that I'm also looking for a book/website with inspirational quotes that I can write to him about --- like little 'pick-me-ups' ... any suggestions on these?
