hard time finding a room on post?? [Ft. Jackson]

Hey ladies!

I was wondering about all the lodging on the post. I know some of you all stayed on post during your grads/family days...I was wondering if you had trouble getting a room...

did any of you get turned away?

if you did successfully get a room, any tips would be appreciated!

yes for both graduation weekends and also when I just went up to see him I had no luck. Just keep hassling them and maybe you will have luck. I always stayed right off post though and it wasnt bad at all.

When DH graduated from BCT in April of 2008 I tried to stay on post...but all the lodging booked up crazy fast!! The La Quinta off post isnt bad

If it's the same one I stayed at, then she's right. The La Quinta wasn't bad at all.

It was full when I called 3 weeks ahead of time, so we stayed at Motel 8 and it wasn't bad for the price.

I guess I'm a little paranoid.

I heard that for family day they aren't granted a town pass...and I need to have some...how shall I put this?...quality time with my man. BOTH days LoL!

I do know that the place you call is open 24/7 so maybe I can just call at midnight...

its really a downer that none of you were able to book a room...

I remember I called way in advance and they wouldnt book the room until a certain amount of time before his graduation, just to make sure he made it. It was something ridiculous like 10 days. Well I called and called and they were booked solid! So I stayed in a motel 6 and it wasnt bad at all and was like $39a night!

And as for Family day, you are not allowed to leave base, you can go anywhere on base you want. You get them all day and they have to be back by a certain time. Like 8 or 9. Then on Graduation day after the cermony they get an off post pass. And you either drive them to AIT or have them back there by like 9 pm for them to leave for AIT.

If you have any other questions PM me! I actually stayed in Columbia for a couple weeks prior to DHs Graduation!

and word of advice make sure you leave your hotel atleast an hour before because traffic is a nightmare! I was actually late to DHs Graduation due to traffic!

Yes it is 10 days. Just start calling on that first day all times of the day and you may have luck. And so true about the traffic. Its crazy and you want to make sure and get there early or you will be walking for a good while down to the stadium

I remember the LONG walk in heels to that damn stadium! I got blisters! So I dont recommend wearing heels, it wasnt worth it! and you also need to get there early to get good seating! Make sure you tell your SO whenever he finds out what side of the field he will be on to tell you. DH neglected to tell me this and I ended up being on the wrong side! And I would also start calling that # everyday when you hit the 10 day mark but to be honest It will most likely be full. So I would also recommend you look at some of the hotels around base before they book up as well! Everything books up so fast on graduation weekend! Goodluck!
