What's the difference? - Military Boot Camp

Ok ladies, I'm having trouble understanding something? My Dh left in August for bootcamp, and I got a letter in the mail for the graduation. Does this include AIT[is he graduating both or just basic?]? When he graduates [in Dec], is he through with everything? Or will he go to AIT after basic? If so, when will he leave? I'm so confused! I just miss him so much! ERG.

No, that is his bct graduation date.

AIT is totally different, and he will have a seperate graduation ceremony for that.

What's his MOS? Dec grad seems like an awful long time to be in boot camp and not be OSUT.

OSUT is infantry's AIT

I was gonna say the same thing. He could be MP or Infantry, both of which do OSUT. 5 months seems like the right amount of time for OSUT.

His MOS is Combat Engineer? I guess...I'm still learning the lingo...my Uncle [whose in the Army] says that his basic & AIT might run together, because they might be in the same place? He also said that seems like a long time to be at just basic? So idk.

Ok, from what I found through Google, Combat Engineers do go thru OSUT at Ft Leonardwood. OSUT stands for "One Station Unit Training." I would wage to say this is his graduation for both. Have you gotten any information about his Family Day?? Usually with OSUT there is a Family Day after the Basic Training portion where they get a 36 hr pass...

I would say it is both. Isn't basic just 8 weeks? DH is infantry and he only had one graduation for basic and AIT. He was gone for over 4 months.
