Workups?
What exactly are workups? How do they work and where are they done?

I beleive its training...and they are done at places usually besides their base

My understanding of them is that they are minny training sessions for the soliders. That way they know what to do once they deploy. If they are on an aircraft carrier like mine is they go out to sea for 7 days to a month. Basically to practice everything.
