Didn't think it would be this hard... - Military Boot Camp

Sniff sniff...

boyfriend left for navy boot camp today at great lakes in illinois, and I thought I would take it a lot better. I didn't think I'd miss him so much. We usually talk on the phone every night (we're already in an LDR), and I hadn't realized how much I relied on having him there to talk to.

I keep thinking about them shaving off all his pretty hair, or him being lonely in a big, cold barricks...

Any words of wisdom to help me get through this would be appreciated! If someone could assure me that the barricks are cozy and nice would definitely put my nerves at ease. He gets so cold so fast!

I promise that it does get better. If you can, just cry madly, scream if you have to, but get it all out. It helps you to adjust faster, IMO. Also, holding it in is very bad for your health. (Mommy speaking... Can't help myself.

)

Having your loved one leave like that is HARD. I have learned that unless you have faced it yourself, you have no clue. I'm now a whopping 2 weeks into my separation from DH. I'm doing much better now. I still cry and weep sometimes, but it's nothing like it was when he first left. I also recovered a lot faster than I thought I would. Just keep telling yourself that you'll get through it and you'll be stronger when you get to the other side.

well.. there is nothing cozy about the barecks.

Just remember that he will come out of it a stronger more mature man.

my DB liked bootcamp if it's of any worth. of course he's kind of a weirdo, but no matter how they feel about it at the same they'll definitely come out as a better person and most likely be glad that they did it. keep your chin up.

Start righting him letters starting now. then when ya get the addie ya can send them all to him so he knows how much you missed him when he was there

My dh thought bootcamp was a lot of fun. Other than being away from everyone he loved. You will both do just fine.
