    Standard vs. Prime?

    Advertisements
I am wondering what makes the most sense... to stick with being on standard or go to Prime... experiences?

I live on Whidbey Island, on the South End and I really want to be able to stay with the closest hospital.

With Prime, you're able to see civilians if you're a certain distance from the nearest base. SO if that's a deciding factor, I'd go Prime. We've always been Prime and I love it.

    There's also no copay!

Well, I'm what I am and I'm what I'm not
and I'm sure happy with what Iíve got
I live to love and laugh alot
    and thatís all I need

I personally didn't like being on Prime, so I chose to be on standard. I really like it better. It just depends on you.

Why didn't you like being on prime? What do you like better about Standard?

I have only been on Standard so I know about the co-pays etc.

In the past 3 years, with us being on prime. tricare has paid over 3 million in medical bills and we didnt pay a cent. no copays, no nothing. i saw civilians here for my preg. it all depends on what the base can handle. if they dont have the space or do not have OB's you automatically see a civilian.

I love being on Prime. right now we are on Prime remote since the nearest military hospital is more than 50 miles away.

    I will miss you SOS...
Please be wary of what you post remember OPSEC is not just another acronym.

I had problems with being able to get in to see my PCM and I also had a bad experience with while using a military doc. I like being on Standard because basically I can choose who I like (of course there is a list) since being on standard I haven't had a problem being seen . With Prime I would have to wait a month or so (at least in my experiences) Also I personally feel that I get better care.

I've done both and MUCH prefer standard. I like to choose who I see and feel like I have more freedom of choice.

There is a catastrophic cap set up so that an active duty family won't pay out over 1,000 a year in out of pocket costs

Were you on standard when you had your daughter?
