    When my husband is promoted, do I need to get a new ID that says his new rank?

    I dont think you have to. I didnt. I just got a new one when it expired and it was on the new one.

    No, you only have to renew it when it is getting ready to expire.

    it depends if his new rank comes with new privilages then yes you can get a new one.. otherwise you have to just wait till it expires or you lose it

    A couple days ago, at pass & ID I asked this question. You are only allowed to be issued a new ID if yours is expiring or if you are moving to CPO (for navy) and to officer.
    Also, when your ID card expires & your husband is at his frocked rank, they will not put the frocked rank on there, you have to be receiving the pay in order to get the rank on your ID card.

    yes you have to being getting paid for the current rank, however if you lose it they will put his current rank on there that is what I had to do when dh made first.. I still had a card from when he was a third class and i "lost it" to get the new rank on there.

    My husband's command said I had to get a new one because it needed to be current with the right rank on it.
