    combat/hazardous duty pay??

    hi ladies,
my husband will be deploying in Nov/Dec, and he seems to think he is going to earn like LOADS more money for it. I for some reason find it hard to believe hes going to ge THAT much more than he already is. I guess all his battles are telling him that his pay will like double. i guess I am hoping that someone can tell me the policy on this or at least point me in the right direction. thanks!

he is a petroleum supply specialist, but since he got honors he is currently enrolled in "extra training" which trains him to drive trucks (he will most likely be driving fuel around in Iraq....

go to armytimes.com, adn they have the pay charts on there. Haz pay is around 250 a month, plus it is all tax free and that helps, plus family sep. pay, etc

Haz pay is not the only thing that they get. There are 3-4 different kinds of pay depending on how long they are deployed. I'm not sure the best source of information though. sorry.
I would like to be with my for a while but thats what made me so tired in the first place!

Hazardous Duty Pay, Family Separation Pay, Combat Pay (this may be the same as hazardous though...It's been a few months since I've looked at a deployed LES paystub)...It all adds up. For us, his pay WAS doubled - he is a Reservist and when he was gone, he got BAH (housing pay) and BAS (food allowance pay) which we didn't get before - and that significantly increased his paycheck each month.

oh yes that's right! thanks for reminding me about the allowances and stuff. He will be deployed for 15 months.

so I am assuming he will make more than I had thought. Maybe he was right lol. I just want to save as much money as we possibly can so we can buy a house later on!! well anyway, thanks so much for your replies ladies!

That is a GREAT idea! That is what we did. I was able to save a very large portion of his pay each month and used that as our "emergency fund" for when he got back and had to find a new job - it lasted us the entire time it took him to find a job, so it was perfect! (he's reserves so he doesn't do Army full time)

Dh was pulling in $1700 a fortnight (and we wern't married at the time).. when he was deployed. And it's all tax free so that's nice too.

If we were married we would have been pulling in about $5500 a month.

We got married 9 months in, but I wasn't enrolled into deers until he got back. So we got a nice chunk of back pay aswell.

WHAT!?!?! now THAT'S a lot lol! what do you mean by "fortnight", do you mean month? $5500 a month sounds absolutely lovely lol! that would be enough for us to save, pay rent, AND send our son to a montessori preschool! yay! but i wont get too excited about it, just in case lol
