Just go to an eye center that accepts tri-care. You get one free exam a year. As long as the place takes tri-care your good. If your still unsure call tri-care and they will refer a place to you and tell you how eye exame coverage works.

Tricare wont cover anything for contacts, so you will have to pay for them without insurance.

We have prime too and I had to get glasses.

Oh and they said they wont cover contact exams, I didnt know they did different things. Your best bet is to call tricare themselves and ask before you have to pay.

That's right. I remember having to take my son for a contact exam and had to pay for it. I think I took him to Costco and cost about $90 with his first supply of lenses. Tricare does not cover the glasses themselves either. At least the last time we bought glasses we had to pay for them. We've always gotten our exams at the eye clinic at the hospital.
