    Tricare question

    Advertisements
I'm not married yet, so I don't really know about this. Do all active duty military people and their spouses get Tricare Prime? I was confused when I was reading about it online. I would like to start finding information about what I will be covered by. Thanks!

Are wives covered as soon as they're married or is there a waiting period?

There's no waiting period, but you have to sign up at DEERS and stuff. At least, that's what we had to do.

Yeah, you'll have to have DH apply when you get married. I don't recommend standard... you'll end up having to pay out of pocket after you meet your deductible, and although it's cheap, it all adds up quickly if you have follow ups and such. As soon as you get your ID, you use that as your medical card as well. That's the only thing I had to wait on

At this moment i am on standard. Totally sucks. I've had to wait a month to get a check up. Which happens to be today. Talk about bs.

Definately choose prime when you sign up!

    I will soon!

As soon as you're enrolled in DEERS, you can head to the Tricare office. You do NOT need a POA or your hubby in tow to register!

We got married at a weird time I guess...I had to wait xamount of days for my prime to kick in, so if i went to the drs then I would have had to pay a co pay like on standard. It depends, so make sure you ask when you are registering when it kicks in.
