    Tricare (Reserve Select) & Therapy

    Advertisements
This is hard, but I think I need to see a therapist. I'm struggling decoding all the military language in seeing if I need a referral from my PCP, or if I can just find a network therapist and go there. I'm also clueless on how to find an in-network therapist.

Anyone have suggestions on where to look?

Military One Source has a lot of great options and might go into more detail regarding what you qualify for with your insurance. I have Tricare Prime, so I'm not 100% sure about that. I know that with Tricare Prime I can self-refer up to a certain number of sessions, so I would maybe call Tricare to find out your specific allotted amount.

Also, getting help for me was the best feeling after dealing with postpartum anxiety after having DD. A little Zoloft and phone therapy and I feel like a new (better) person. I hope you find what you need!

I agree with Military One Source. They even do online therapy. They can help you maneuver through Tricare and give you local therapists to make an appointment with. It’s an amazing resource!

You do not need a referral. You can find a counselor via Military One Source and they automatically authorize the first sessions (I think it is up to ten) and then your counselor can do the paperwork to get more as needed.

Thanks everyone. Military One Source was awesome and helped me find someone. Now I just need to eek up the courage and make the call.
