    Sick kid/Tricare/urgent care question

    Advertisements
I got my stepdaughter enrolled in Tricare Prime and it was effective the first of March. I tried calling Friday to get her in the computer system at Mayport but they told me to come up there to do it and that they wouldn't do it over the phone. Anywho...Kayla had a 100.9 fever yesterday, and it started going down, but I just took it and it's 101.6. If I need to take her in, how does it work with urgent care at the clinics? Do they even do that or do I have to take her to the ER over at NAS? If the fever doesn't break by this afternoon she'll need to see someone so I'm trying to get an idea as to where I'll need to take her.

I would just take her to the ER, because that way you know she'll be seen and not have to be set up in the computer first. You can always do that later.

I hope she gets to feeling better.

Actually, you could always the Mayport clinic and ask how long it takes to set everything up. I'm not sure how that clinic works because we were always seen at the clinic at NAS.

Call the nurse hotline amanda and ask...542-4677.Sometimes a fever isnt as bad as it seems. Might put her through more by going to the ER. Call first

She doesn't seem as sick as you would think she would be with a 101.6 fever. She's in pretty good spirits besides having a headache with it. My mom said it's something that's going around the school

Well even if you go threw with the paperwork at mayport it isn't even guarented that you will see her Primary becuase they are usually filled. I would just go to the ER.

Just wanted to add, if you do go to the ER on NASJAX, go early in the AM. Like around 6-7-8 AM. You will get in and out quickly.
Even with a fever, if your not dying at JAX, they make you wait FOREVER!
