    Contacts/Glasses?

    Advertisements
Okay so how do I go about getting into the eye doctor? I'm out of contacts and Kilo ate my good pair of glasses a long time ago so I'm stuck using my older pair that aren't strong enough. I know for like the dentist I just find one in my area that accepts Tricare but idk if I do the same for an eye doctor? I plan on just getting the prescription and then using something like 1800-Contacts to actually order them.

I suck at being a milso so any help would be awesome

There should be an eye doctor on base that can get you a new prescription. I just look on the base website and find their appointment line. Then I order my contacts online from 1-800 contacts.

Does it matter which base I go to? We live off base and there's several in the area. My PCM is at a base that's further away but there's one like 2 minutes from my apartment too.

I don't think it should matter.

Just find an optometrist that takes tricare. They only cover the portion for the glasses prescription though, everything else is out of pocket. And all I've ever heard is that if you can be seen on base, you can't get contacts. It's a pain in the ass.

Just find an optometrist that takes Tricare. It's pretty easy. The exam is covered. We always take the script and order contacts and glasses online for my son.

So I can just go to any optometrist in the area that'll take Tricare? Will it cover the exam anywhere that takes it? I know that only the exam is covered so I figured I'd just go and get a prescription and order it all online. That'd be awesome if I didn't have to deal with getting a referral and all that nonsense.

    THANK YOU ALL

Only the eyeglass exam is covered. The contact exam is not.

Wait there's a difference? I've only ever had one exam and they give us the prescription for both.
