    A couple questions.

How does Tricare work for a minor when he is no longer living in the region he's covered? Example, covered in Hawaii but moving to Ohio. Will I need to receive all new referrals for specialists or will they just 'transfer' the referral to the new insurance accepting provider?

Does anyone know anything about early return of dependants? I've heard a couple times that the army may pay for family members to go back home in certain circumstances, but it sounds too good to be true.

It may be different for kids vs adults, but when MF was stationed in NC and I was in ohio, we simply let tricare know I was in ohio and they changed my area. I found all my own doctors (I was on prime), so you may need to discuss with tricare what todo since you won't be on/near base.

Is Levi ok that you are going back to ohio???

ERD is a real thing, but you can not return on the army's dime.(as in return back to Hawaii) They will let you return for a good deal of reasons, but sometimes for marriage reasons they make you see councilors first.

The husband and I recently changed regions. I have to go to my PCM and get new referrals for the specialists that I see. My appointment is set up and they have my records, it's never difficult but I do have to do that one appointment. They will do new referrals for specialists in this area.

I am still technically under the care of my doctor's in the other region - they have both said that they will call in refills to a local pharmacy until I have doctors here and that they will consult with my new doctors on my treatment plan.

I hope that everything is ok.

I thiiiiiiink what Veen is saying is how it is! You should be able to call/go to the office and switch the region of coverage for Levi and yourself. I would talk to them about the referral thing; I was on Prime in NJ during Eric's short tour and since I was just over the mileage limit from McGuire, I had to find my own doctors off base that accepted TriCare. I do remember the lady in the TriCare office printing off lists of them for me initially (to select my PCM), and I know when I needed an GYN later on, I was able to look on the TriCare website to find one in my area. I assume this is how it will be for Levi, but I'm not entirely certain. Since he is not deployed, I'm not sure if they'll require stuff from your husband or not. I can't imagine why they would, but you never know with these things.

    Everything otay?

When you change regions you have to contact Tricare and the referrals start over.. meaning you have to see a PCM again to get a new referral, or for them put the 'old' referral back into the system.
You will have to get new doctors/new PCM.

And yes, if you get approval for ERD they will send you back to states on military dime, but they will not send you back overseas.

Okay, just a few more questions to clarify.

Is thus a process he has to start or is it something I can do?

Do I wait for the all clear and get reimbursed or is it like a pcs where they pick the flights/arrangement? Can I just buy tickets and hope to God they approve and reimburse?

If the process takes longer than anticipated, can I reap half of the benefits? Buy my own way home but still have them ship my things after?

It seems confusing. Maybe I'm just not clear headed enough while trying to read the information I found. It says it has to happen within a specific time frame post divorce but how does that even make sense when I'm 4000 miles away from the place we married? Don't I have to wait until I'm back to file? That's a whole other thread of questions on its own, however.

I know nothing about ERD, but with divorce law you file in the state you have a residence in, but with a child they tend to look where the child has lived for the past 6 months. If this is the road you are going down, it might be easier to file before you leave.
