    Help Wisdom Teeth Removal?

    Advertisements
Does anyone know is MetLife/Tri-Care covers Widsom Teeth Removal?

    I've heard mixed things,
A.) That it doesn't because it's considered cosmetic surgery...
B.) I've also heard if you get all 4 of them pulled at the same time it's at no cost, or $200?

DH says that I might need a referral to get them removed (my teeth are shifting, jaws in pain, etc.)

Maybe i'm just not seeing it on the website?

Welp, maybe I did something wrong but removing my 4 wisdom teeth (impacted) in August run me close to $1000. I can't remember the exact number and it was split up to a few different things, but I wasn't pleased.

It's either 50 or 60 percent met life covers. Wisdom teeth is not considered cosmetic. Can't remember the name but the coverage is the same for root canals and crowns.

I've been looking into this and as far as I could tell, it appeared as though Tricare Dental covers 60% up to a max of $1700 for oral surgery.

An average cost for wisdom teeth removal is $1500 (without coverage). Could be less/more depending on factors like where you live and how invasive (impacted teeth) it is for you.

Hopefully I'll know more soon.... Still checking things out !

I had all 4 and "put under" a year ago. It cost us about i think 700 and that is with insurance. I see that you are navy you can go to the NMCRS for some help and as long as you have insurance they can do a loan or a quick assist loan.

They covered a lot of mine, I think I paid $260 maybe. I had all four taken out and under anesthesia.

How much it costs will depend on how much your dentist charges because the dental insurance only covers a portion. But yes, it will cover wisdom tooth removal.
