    Reenlistment bonus (Navy)

    Advertisements
How long should it take to be deposited? My husband reenlisted on August 23rd and all his bonus paperwork was approved and such and he still hasn't seen his half of the money that he should have. I've heard it can take up to 30 days but everyone I know that has received it says 10 days. What do you think? He is on transfer leave right now so would that effect it? It's been 24 days already and we were hoping to see it before his leave is over so we could do some extra fun things without bothering our savings.......

There are only a few rates left that have reenlistment bonuses. He got lucky because he barely made it with his years in.

All my husband got was a booklet of leave coupons, so I'm no help.

He should probably go and talk to whomever is in charge of reenlistment bonuses and see if his bonus was affected by sequestration or any other thing is holding it up.

But if you are on vacation that may not be an option until you get back. By then you will be at or close to the 30 days. If you do use your saving it should be an easy matter to replace the money when you get the bonus.

Sadly, he didn't even get to use them all before he left the ship. They were coupons like, "an afternoon off to take a loved one to dinner," and, "a day off for you that can also be shared with a shipmate."
