Not directly, as in using their services. I have referred people to them. Do you need some help with something?

Have you talked with anyone at the A&FRC to see if they can assist in getting in contact with the rep? Has the First Shirt attempted to get in contact with her?

At the AFRC, they don't anything what's going on w/ rep. We've left messages and emails and re-submitted bills over and over........

Don't know anything about the First Shirt or even who that would be

Initially she wanted us to wait until the end of month for the loan (in case she could get us more money) but we said no, we cant wait. We're drowning right now. Bills DUE.

Your spouses First Shirt or even the squadron commander should be able to help "motivate" the person to do their job. The AFAS is suppose to work in tandem with them so they should know how to contact and light a fire.

If all else fails, contact AFAS's headquarters and find out why she's not responding. If she's not able to for a good reason, they should have someone on your case. If she' snot doing it for a poor reason, they should know.

But I would suggest the Shirt/Commander route first.

I'm always told "she's in meetings" and with other clients. Yeah I get that she's BUSY but it first sounded like getting a loan would be no sweat, just a few days...and now its been weeks.
As for the First Shirt thing, I don't think that applies here as DH just retired over the weekend.

Wow, I hope that she didn't put you off because he was about to retire. That would be pretty crappy. Retirees are eligible, but the case review and approval process is a bit more stringent.

Two weeks is a long time for no contact. You're getting the run around. I honestly would go to the AFAS website Home - Air Force Aid Society and get the contact information to at least email someone at headquarters.

I would call the HQ number listed on the website.

since he is now retired the criteria for the loans are a little different and you may have to reapply as a retiree.

She told us since we filed BEFORE his retirement that getting help should be NDB and that we could get a loan either way......but now DH has submitted the same bills over and over....
I finally called AFAS and spoke with someone there....they have to call our rep.....they might have as much luck as I do getting her on phone.

Thanks, Lynn. It helps to just even vent about this.
