Tricare referred me to a Dr. 90 miles away ...

... I don't *mind* making the drive, but good heavens! That's a half-tank of gas!! Does anyone know if Army spouses are eligible for mileage reimbursement for crazy drives like that?

I'm very new to Tricare, so I'm not sure how it works ...

    Any insight would be helpful.

No - there is no reimbursement. Is this a PCM or a specialist? Will there be recurring visits/treatment or is this a one-time need? Have you visited the TriCare website yourself to search for this particular type of physician to see if there are any nearer that are w/in the TriCare provider network?

Yes, but as specified in the link provided that is 100+ and the OP stated the doctor she has been referred to is less than 100 miles away.

Yep, the link also says it has to shown (proven) that there are no other doctors closer.

I understand that. I was not disagreeing with you, I was just providing the link so she could see all the requirements.

You can call Tricare and ask if there is anyone else they can refer you to.

You can go on their website, enter your zip code & they'll show you a list of doctors in the area that accept Tricare. I don't know if you need to go for something specific & that's the only doctor around for it but otherwise, there should be a bunch & no need to travel that far.

Not sure where you are but there's been lots of issues similar in the West region lately with the region takeover a United not having up to date systems (seriously, they are 100x worse than dealing with TriWest).

I'd call and see if there's someone closer.
