United taking charge of Tricare West

    Advertisements
I keep seeing people on the spouses pages freaking out about this. Any info? I'm not really concerned since coverage is supposed to be the same. I heard current issues are with providers not taking United etc...

Just curious if anyone has more info.

I don't really have any info, I'm hoping for the best as I see a lot of off base doctors. I haven't worried about it yet at all, but I guess I should be on the look out to see if my docs will still accept it.

Tricare West Region is being contracted out to United Healthcare. I just got the welcome letter yesterday. I'm on tricare prime remote, so I just need to check if my PCM accepts it.

I don't know much about it, but here is the website.

My company used to use United. Everyone was so happy when we switched. There is a lot of issues with providers not talking United. Also, I've heard its really easy to exceed coverage caps and medications are really expensive. I don't know if those last two things will apply, but that's just what I've heard.

Well, from what I have seen things aren't changing much. Our insurer is still TriCare - the change is that the processor will be United Healthcare instead of TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

In all of the information that I've looked through, I haven't noticed a lot of changes. Some physicians aren't listed yet, but it seems to be that more and more are listed everyday. If a physician accepts TriCare, they accept TriCare. The difference will come in that they process claims through a different place.
