    Tricare, Relocation, Separation, AHH!

Okay so I'm pretty lost when it comes to Tricare. I've never seen a doctor off base. When we lived in Norfolk I always went to an MTF and when we lived in GTMO I was always seen at the base hospital because there was no other option. Now here's my deal:

I had Tricare Prime. When we moved overseas it went to the Prime overseas coverage. My husband reenlisted while in Cuba and had to reenlist in the FTS program which is through the Reserves. He is now separating and is in Florida doing his out processing for the next couple of weeks. I moved to his home of record a week ago which is Pennsylvania. I now have Tricare Standard I believe.

I just found out that I am pregnant and will be needing a doctor and prenatal care. Do I need to call Tricare to get a doctor or do I just find a doctor that accepts Tricare? Like I said, I was always seen at MTF's so I don't know how to get a doctor or what I need to do.

if your on standard you just call and make an appointment with an OB, no need for a referral. If your still prime you will need to set up a primary care Doctor and then get a referral from him/her to start seeing an OB

I've never needed a referral from my PCM to see an OB (I am prime).. I just made an appointment directly with the OB.

Just make an appointment with a doctor of your choice. Just make sure that they accept Tricare & you're good.
