    Getting a new ID?

    Advertisements
My husband reenlisted so I need a new ID. He's coming home in December so we were hoping at some point to drive down to Miami to get it, but what is needed for me to renew it? Do I need to bring all the same paperwork or is it easier?

If it expires before Dec you can do it, he just needs to fill out DD1172. If it doesn't and you will be together, just take your current ID with you, and he can fill out DD1172 while he is there getting it.

Is Miami the closest base? It can be any base, even a reserve base.

It expires in January so I guess we'll be good then?

When I got my first ID Miami was the best option for it, it's definitely not the closest but we needed an appointment everywhere else. I'm pretty sure there's a reserve base in palm beach though, thanks for reminding me!

You should be fine, you generally can't renew unless you are within 30 days of expiring, unless in cases of a re-enlistment.

You need appointments every where, unless you want to wait for hours. I'd rather take the base with an appointment then drive for a long distance and still have to wait hours to be seen.

Yeah in Miami they took us back right away, but we expected to wait forever. Ill make an appointment once we know which day we can go.

He just needs to fill out the form. DH filled one out and I went in a few days later to renew my ID. I didn't have an appointment, I was in and out in 15 minutes.
