    Tricare Question

    Advertisements
So I have a Dr's appt tomorrow under Tricare Prime. How does this normally go. Do I pay? Its just a normal dr's appt, and I am asking for 2 referrals. Do I need to bring anything? Do I need to know MF's SSN? (I havent memorized it yet). Anything I need to know?

No, you do not need to pay anything.
I know with the AF they asked me if I had any additional insurance and I had to fill out a form to get a "blue card" that verified Prime was my only insurance. I had to show the "blue card" each visit.
I don't know if you will need your DHs SSN, probably for initial paperwork.

Not much else you need to know, really. It's just like a normal doctors visit outside the military!

You don't pay a dime. I would have his SSN just in case, but usually your military id is enough for them. It's pretty easy and they will let you know everything you need to do.

You'll need your Dh's SS number, but that is on your id already.

his SSN will be your insurance number, if you have to write that on your paperwork, thats what that will be. usually showing your military ID as your insurance card is all they really need

I think that they are removing SSN from dependent IDs. My DH's SSN is not on my ID; I have a "benefits" number.

OP-Your ID should be sufficient at check-in and as the others said, you shouldn't have to pay anything. You shouldn't need to bring anything else with you.

On my ID I still have my DH's SS number. My SS number has been blocked out except the last 4 digits. Maybe its because I'm an old Salty wife and haven't had my ID changed since before we left HI.

Its something kind of new. DH just got his Active Duty ID updated back in March and I think he has a service member ID number on it instead of his SSN. Mine still has his SSN number but thats because I have had it for a few years.
