    Tricare Dental

Has anyone had to have a crown using TDP? My dentist quoted me at $800 for a crown with my insurance. That seems outrageous, but maybe it isn't? And she said some other figure that seemed absurd for a filling. Just curious what you guys pay for dentist work.

I know united Concordia pays 80% and you're left paying the remaining 20%...

for my crown I paid 50%. it was expensive, but IMO paying 50% is better than paying 100%

It's 50/50 for crowns. Mine have all been in the $600 range. Is the dentist a preferred provider? If he is not, he might be charging for the 50%, plus the amount over the allowable.

I know I paid around 20+ for fillings. Wishing I had that kind of coverage now. Definitely call United Concordia and ask them because obviously they would know more than us. And definitely check to see if your provider is preferred. Like Jane3 said.

That is pretty steep one reason I tell people its better to just find a different coverage if you(general) need much work done. I only paid about $70 to have 3wisdom teeth removed, andone cavity filled. I also only had like a $30 co-pay before that when I had two caps put on my front teeth. I agree it's better then nothing, but there is better, MUCH better, coverage out there....
    Signature removed due to size.

I've had several in the last year. Each was $1000 for me.

Totally curious now. Do you have different dental insurance aside from United Concordia? Or are you talking about how much you've paid being covered by them? If it's not under them, I want to know! I'd like that coverage! Sorry to thread jack.
