Well, you shouldn't get paid something if you are not earning it.

don't see why it would be a big deal the only time i would be counting on it is during a deployment, and god knows those are long enough to get the full amount for a long time. pro-rating the first and last month because it's not every single day isn't going to hurt me.

Hm... I don't think we did. We had to wait until the first month he was gone fully I think. I'll have to check DH's LES's.

He didn't get it officially until he was gone for 30 days but it was prorated for November then the full amount for December and showed up in the EOM pay for December.

The only reason this bothers me is because those perks don't kick in until after 30 days. Those are thirty days they're spending in hazardous zones, not getting paid for it. So to me, it made sense that they get it for the last month to kind of even it all out. But it's not like there's anything I can do about it, so there's no use getting worked up.

They do get paid for them. It just starts after they have been there 30 days. Which means once they are home, their next check after leaving said haz zone will have pay for as many days as they are there. AF has been like this will all sorts od extra pays unless on a remote.

Wait, so they do get paid for those first 30 days, just later?

It's definitely possible that you're right and I just didn't catch that at our pre-deployment brief. Thanks for that! Always better to have correct information.
