    BAH question

    Advertisements
So, it looks like on this paycheck we received BAH, but my husband signs the lease on our base housing today; should I be looking to pay that money back or can we keep it?

I'm asking just because I haven't seen the mypay website, so I wasn't sure the pay period that this paycheck is good for. I just want to make sure because we'd basically have to pay back half of the paycheck and I want to know before I start paying bills

    TIA!

BAH like pay is paid retrocatively- so the pay for this check is for work performed Nov 1st to 15th-
if you checked into your house to day- you will own rent from today onward.

We moved onto base housing around the 20th Feb of last year and they started allotting the BAH on the 1st of the following month. But when we had signed the lease a couple weeks before that we had to pay half of the rent up front.

Excellent. Good to know. Since he signs the lease today, our next paycheck should reflect lack of BAH, but it's nice to have that extra money now; STILL haven't received his DLA, but it has only been 3 weeks at this point.

You won't have to pay it back, however depending on your housing company, you may have to pay housing before you get the key. We moved into our house on the 28th and had to pay for the 28th till the 1st before they gave us the key. Even though your BAH is paid on the 15 for work 1st till 15th, some privatized housing companies make you pay in advance (you pay on the 1st for the 1st till the 15th) and anything that is over paid when you move out is reimbursed.

One reason why I love starting leases on the first of the month or end of the month. Never disrupts BAH.
