    Active Duty Requesting Second Opinion

    Advertisements
Does anyone have any experience on if an Active Duty Soldier can request a second opinion on their health care? My DH is having back problems and we would like for him to have a second opinion because the one he gots doesnt seem like the care he needs for the problem he was given, we looked up the procedure and it is for something completely different than what he has.. We just dont know if he is allowed to request a second opinion.. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in Advance

you always can contact Tricare and get in-network doctors in your area to have a look-see. He can go to the VA and have them look at his back as well. Or you can go to a civi doctor and pay the co-pay requirements for out of network.

I think when it comes to your health care, no matter who you work for, you always have that choice. If not then that's wack. !

Has he contacted the Patient Advocacy Office for the clinic where he is being treated? I highly recommend it.

We contacted Patient Advocacy for something with my husband before his deployment. They really made things happen and happen quickly.

He talked to the patient advocate to get this first appointment taken care of and they are wanting to treat him for arthritis when he has a bulging disk, so I asked him to get a second opinion but we didnt know if he could.. He has to see the main doctor again as a follow up for a profile so we are going to ask him if he can get a second opinion.. thank you for answering ladies, we were unsure how to go about this..
