    USAA Insurance

    Advertisements
I always hear people talk about how amazing USAA is so I decided to get an online quote for car insurance. We currently have Progressive.

Well, their quote was like...triple what we pay monthly right now. I feel like something is off.

I'm so confused. I don't know what kind of coverage we actually need. This would probably be easier if my husband was here to explain this to me.

Ours is amazing but we have a lot with them so got a lot of discounts.

I would make sure that the coverage you have now is the same as you are getting quotes for. Entering one or two things differently can drastically change the amount.

If we had USAA car insurance I would want to get their renters-which is also a discount.

I don't even actually know what exactly our coverage is. It *APPEARS* that they threw in a bunch more than we currently have.

I would grab a copy of your current policy and perhaps call them to get a good estimate. Do you have any violations, or accidents? I have heard that come times people can end up with higher quotes from USAA if they do not have the best record. We have had USAA since 2006, and I have to say I love them. Every 6 months our policy drops in price, and when we have needed to use them they have taken care of everything for us. I really do believe that USAA is amazing. We have auto and renters insurance through them, and a loan with them. But I would check to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

I have a perfect driving record, but I am fairly positive my husband does not, although I am NOT sure.

I think I will bring it up to him and we can look into it when he's back from deployment. He may also want to get another car and USAA always has rave reviews, they're a company I really want to consider.

I hear that a lot too and funny thing is we got better discounts with State Farm then we would of with USAA. We have DH's car threw State farm mine threw USAA so we got to compare and the rate we have with State Farm is WAY lower then USAA we pay like $11 a month ($200k in coverage inculdes damage dine to the complex if we catch it on fire like cooking) for renters insurance now witch with USAA it would of been more like $30 for the coverage we have right now. DH has a worse driving record then I do he's been in a bad wreck and has speeding tickets on his record I do not so you'd think USAA with my car would of been cheaper apparently not.

We have a really good rate and we have full coverage on 2 new cars. We just got the guaranteed price thing from them on a car and just updated our insurance the other day. I would definitely look into it. DH has used them for years, and I have been VERY impressed with them and their customer service the past couple of months with switching everything over to joint accounts and everything else that comes with getting married.

I would call and talk to a representative to get a better quote, you might get discounts you aren't aware of.

We have full coverage on both cars as well. Unfortunately DH has far from a perfect driving record (speeding tickets leading to license suspensions ), but the only thing on my record is that I totaled my car 1 1/2 yrs ago and I was determined not at fault. But even with his record, it's not TOO painful.

He has a higher performance car, so we switched who is listed as the primary driver of our vehicles. Also, we got renter's insurance with them as well. Since I just finished college, I lost the good student discount, but my rates still dropped because I turned 21 since the last 6 month policy length. It's by far the lowest rate we've found! I hope that you find out why it's so high for y'all!

We use USAA for all our insurance. We also get a discount for having 2 cars. It's SUCH a good price, especially compared to paying in Pounds!! I'd call & speak to someone though.

It really varies depending on how long you have been with USAA, if you are a generation USAA member, how many vehicles or other things you are insuring, driving records of all drivers, ages of all drivers, types of vehicles, whether or not the vehicles are paid off/brand new/sporty/high saftey ratings, etc.

Just because USAA is cheaper for some, it doesn't mean it is cheaper for all. If you have insurance with another company that covers what you want it to cover and you pay a lesser amount, stick with it.
