    Another random tricare question lol

Ok, hypothetically, lets say you're on tricare prime and are assigned a pcp off post. If you go a referral for ob for prenatal care, would you need to obtain subsequent referrals for every prenatal appointment? Or would that initial referral written by a pcm suffice for the duration of the pregnancy?

    Just thinking out loud here

I would think itd go through your whole pregnancy that's how my old insurance worked so I'd assume it'd be the same

To my knowledge, you don't even need a referral to go to ob.. but if you do, its just the initial appointment.

I think one referral would be fine. However when I was on prime and my civilian PCM referred me to a civilian OB (who is contracted with Tricare), Naval Hospital exercised "right of first refusal" or something like that and basically pulled my referral for OB care so I was assigned to them. I switched to
Standard in order to be seen by a civilian provider. If there was not an MTF that had OB care or if they didn't have room for me, then I could have seen a civilian provider for prenatal care on Prime.
