    Question does Tricare back date?

    Advertisements
My next OB appointment is May 12th, hubby will have already left for boot. Will Tri care cover this appointment or should I just budget it into for payment? Hubby will have only been at boot for a few days so I won't have the information yet. Thank you in advance. I just like to plan and be ready

Not as far as I know. And even still the first 30 days you are standard so there are co-pays.

    Count on having to pay.

I would plan on paying, but I *think* that Tricare Standard is backdated to your eligibility date (so whatever date he becomes active duty in your case, since you're already married?). I know in my case, it was backdated to the date we were married, even though I wasn't enrolled in DEERS until a few weeks after that. As someone else suggested, I would submit for reimbursement. But you would still be responsible for your copay/deductible under Tricare Standard. However, the Tricare allowed amount is typically less than what you'd pay as a cash-paying patient, so it can still help to be covered by Tricare.

Standard will be back dated to the date of eligibility.

I'm trying to remember how it worked, we have prime. But for some reason I think there was a 30 day period when we were standard and there was a co-pay. But regardless your eligability date should be the date he joins since you're already married.
