    tricare standard??

    Advertisements
A woman at a clinic (one of the nurses) said that with tricare standard I will have to pay 20% of the medical bills for each visit and the hospital stay. Is this true? I have to use standard because I don't think there is a military base with hospital near Virginia, MN.
I am still all confused on a lot of this. We should have our tricare in mid May.
That is when I will see a Dr for this pregnancy. Thanks

We have tricare prime remote. Look into that. it's tricare prime, but for people who live farther than 50? miles from a MTF. I'm not sure on the number, I just know we live far from a MTF so we have the remote.

I had it while DH was deployed, so I'm not 100% sure. It doesn't hurt to check though!

Yeah, with Standard it's 20% of every bill and visit. We're switching over to Prime

I looked on the tricare site and it said this for our zip and fort bennings zip
"Based on the ZIP codes you provided, the beneficiary does not qualify to enroll in TRICARE Prime Remote. Instead, the beneficiary may enroll in TRICARE Prime in the West Region. If you believe this information is incorrect you may contact the regional contractor. The West Region contractor is TriWest Healthcare Alliance, Corp."

Isn't MN north? And GA is south? I don't get the whole region thing. I tried to see if there was a base in Duluth but I think all I found was a National Gaurd base. Would/do they have a hospital? How would I find out?

If your preggo your maternity care shouldn't cost anything, its covered in full with the global maternity care rule. I think you pay like 15/day for the hospital stay. Also the most you can pay out a year on Standard is $1000 then Tricare picks up the rest. I've been on Standard for 2 1/2 years now and it suits us well. But if your preggo and its for those appointments I wouldn't worry. Find the rule and make sure they code it right, some offices just suck at filing Tricare.

If you switch to prime you can find a doctor in your area that accepts tricare... they're listed on the website for your area! That's the better way to go so you don't have to pay anything!
