Help tricare question take 2 :P

    Advertisements
so i posted something the other day about not being on tricare like i'm supposed to... that's taken care of now, and I'm on tricare prime

When I make my dr's apt, what (if anything) do i need to take into my dr as "proof of insurance" or whatever (she's a civilian dr but i listed her as my primary care)?

ps- I have his orders, mulitpul POA's, my DD1172, and an active status ID card

    thanks for the help!

You should just need your ID card. Thats all I've ever needed in the past!

You have to make sure Tricare approves you to have an off post doctor first. Call the 1-800 number for your region and talk to a representative to make sure she is approved. You should get a card in the mail from Tricare, too, with your PCM listed on it.

Also for "proof of insurance," it's your ID card (if your doc accepts Tricare, they'll often photo-copy your ID card), and your husbands social is your insurance service number (or whatever the actual phrase is, I can't think of it right now).

Glad you got yourself on Prime!

If you're on Prime, were you already authorized to see a non-MTF provider?!

I've never been on tricare before, but when i went in, they said that my dr is fine they asked if I had a dr closer to home and i said yes, and the lady at the office said she'd call my dr for me... i dunno, i just had to leave, it was one of those long days haha I'll probaby call tomorrow to double check, but DH has talked to the Dr already and it sounds like its mostly set for me

please make sure Tricare has this DR. listed as your PCM in their system. If she is not and you go there you are responsable for 100% of the bill.

an easy way to check.. is call the 1 800 number and just ask who they have listed as your PCM.

Then I sugesst calling back lol and asking a diffrent CSM who they have listed as your PCM.

If they match then more than likely that is your PCM.
